The Marketing Operations Manager is a multifaceted management position in our Marketing Organization that requires excellent skills in Account, Client, and People management.
You should have a comprehensive understanding of the role of field marketing in driving business development and customer pipeline growth as leads move from marketing to sales execution. In addition, you should have a technical grasp of the marketing operations function and the software and business processes that enable accurate tracking, lead management, and reporting.
The successful manager will be adept at managing a large and diverse cross section of staff and sub-accounts and possess a proven track record in effectively hiring, developing, and retaining talented staff.
As part of a critical and rapidly growing division within Projectline, candidates must also possess a passion for business development and a successful track record of spotting opportunities and identifying the right business and staffing solutions to meet client needs and budgets.
Core Responsibilities:
Account Management
- Client Management:
- Drive ongoing client management best practices including establishing short and long term priorities, driving successful execution against plans, measuring and reporting team performance, and remaining dynamic and flexible in finding solutions to meet ever-changing client business needs.
- Effectively build trust and provide ongoing strategic and management counsel with an eye toward solutions that are mutually beneficial to the client and the ongoing health of the account.
- Establish and extend the fundamental attributes and quality of the Projectline brand within the client organization.
- Business Management:
- Develop annual client contracts, supplemental contracts for related lines of business, and overarching business planning efforts.
- Manage for profit, ensuring that people are at the right compensation level for retention and optimally placed to meet client needs while achieving overall Projectline business objectives.
- Drive reporting processes (including performance measurement and tracking).
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual business review content to all key client account stakeholders.
- Codify best practices and knowledge sharing across all aspects of the account.
- Focus on continuous innovation across the team to ensure the long term competitiveness of the Projectline service offering.
- Identify opportunities to drive further quality control improvements across the business to optimize output.
- Business Development:
- Work across the organization to identify new business opportunities to extend Projectline’s footprint within Microsoft and marketing operations functions within other business groups at Microsoft.
- Organize and leverage a ‘team based’ model for secondary defined-term business opportunities and support the development of ‘team based’ approaches in other areas of Projectline’s business development efforts.
Team Management
- Organizational Strategy:
- Drive organizational strategy across the team, identifying transition plans within the team to in order to promote from within and optimize the team for quality output and individual job satisfaction and retention.
- Leverage opportunities for cross team skill building and professional development across broader marketing operations functions and consulting acumen to build a foundation for employee advancement into new areas of the Projectline organization.
- People Development:
- Foster a culture of continuous professional development partnering with individual direct reports as part of reviews and an ongoing 1:1 meeting process to find opportunities for skills and professional development to set them up for long term success at the company.
- Ensure successful issues management within the team and effective team culture.
- Develop an atmosphere culturally, and through job satisfaction that ensures retention standards are met.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 10 years of business experience; agency experience preferred.
- 6-8 years of marketing and client service experience in a central marketing team or agency equivalent.
- Prior experience within the Microsoft organization, either as a full time employee or as a vendor, is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing teams of 5 or more people across a range of skillsets from entry-level to management.
- Ability to inspire and motivate people as a mentor and a leader while bringing energy and enthusiasm to the team every day.
- Proven skill under pressure, ability to meet deadlines and respond to multiple issues while working through limited resources and cross-functional dependencies.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills coupled with the ability to comfortably and confidently present to multiple audiences, from execution level to the executive level.
- Proven ability to develop partnerships and collaborate across functions and business divisions.
- Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
