Projectline Named One of Washington’s Best Workplaces by Puget Sound Business Journal

Projectline has been named one of the finalists in the 2009 Washington’s Best Workplaces program by the Puget Sound Business Journal. The program was launched in 2007 to identify and recognize best practices in the hiring and retention of great people.

After an extensive employee-survey process, 66 companies in four different categories have been identified as Washington’s best, based on their benefit offerings, leadership culture, and work/life balance philosophies.

“We’re proud to be recognized as a well-rounded company and great employer,” says Human Resources Manager Maartje Hesseling. “It’s terrific to know that our team feels truly happy and supported—that’s a huge part of what motivates them to do great work, so it’s really a win all around.”

“Work-force development has never been more important - or more difficult - than it is in today’s global economy,” says Emory Thomas Jr., publisher of the Business Journal. “We believe the Business Journal, as the Puget Sound area’s top source of business information, has an important role to play in drawing attention to innovations and excellence in the management of our region’s No. 1 resource: its people.”

A division of American City Business Journals, Puget Sound Business Journal is the region’s premier source of business information, serving an unparalleled audience of business and community leaders. The weekly publication provides professionals with the latest breaking local, national, and global business news, as well as information on local business events, career opportunities, and more.

Projectline: One of Washington’s 100 Best

Projectline is excited to announce its inclusion on the 2009 Seattle Business Monthly Washington’s Top 100 Companies to Work For list.

“Seattle Business Magazine celebrates companies that know how to treat their employees well,” states the publication. “From large firms with hundreds of employees to small boutique shops, we find businesses that do it right so that others can learn by their example.”

To earn a spot on the list, companies must average a high employee ranking on a number of workplace criteria, ranging from benefits packages and wages to non-traditional perks, company culture, overall fulfillment, and more.

Competing against hundreds of other Washington-based companies, Projectline earned a spot among the top companies in the Small Company category.

Projectline has experienced rapid growth since its founding in 2003, and the company’s owners are proud that their expanding team of employees continues to recognize Projectline as an exceptional place to work. “We’re still a small company by some standards, but we’ve grown by leaps and bounds in the past five years,” says Projectline Chief Operating Officer David Jones. “It’s fantastic to know that as our company has matured and flourished, we’ve been able to maintain the aspects of our business that make us a great employer in our team’s eyes.”

A division of Tiger Oak Publications, Seattle Business Monthly is Washington’s leading monthly business magazine, offering updates and insights on local business happenings.

“It’s that pesky global climate change…”

The Projectline team has long been conscientious of the need to monitor and reduce environmental impact. Since the doors to Projectline HQ opened in 2004, Projectline has endeavored to limit the carbon footprint that can result as a course of traditional business. In addition to green commuting, nearly paperless communication, and the use of non-toxic and recycled cleaning and office products, Projectline has now extended its environmental commitment to include education tailored towards making sure employees always know how to make the “greenest” choices, both in and outside of work.

Projectline’s new Environmental Action Committee maps the carbon footprint of the Projectline team, and from that determines a set of tangible goals for decreasing consumption, decreasing waste, increasing recycling and composting efforts, and keeping Projectline employees up-to-date about environmentally sound products, services, and practices.

With compost recently having been added to the waste-management roster at Projectline’s Seattle office, the Environmental Action Committee’s first initiative centered around familiarizing the Projectline team with the ins and outs of recycling and composting.

Puget Sound Business Journal Honors Projectline with Corporate Citizenship Award

Projectline is proud to have been named one of the Northwest’s Top Corporate Philanthropists in the 2009 Puget Sound Business Journal Corporate Citizenship Awards.

The publication’s Corporate Citizenship program spotlights Northwest-based companies for their ongoing support of philanthropic causes and organizations. Among the hundreds of companies competing for consideration in this year’s awards, Projectline was one of only 25 to receive recognition in the Small Business category.

Because Projectline was founded on a mission to create positive impact, Projectline owners David Jones, Mike Kichline, and Anika Lehde are especially excited to receive this award. “We’ve always been committed to the idea of sharing a portion of our time, energy, and resources to help better our local and global communities,” says David Jones. “We’re fortunate to have had enough success to afford us so many opportunities to give back, and we’re extremely proud of that.”

“It’s kind of a quiet perk for our clients, too,” follows Mike Kichline. “They work with us because of our expertise and the quality of our team; they may not know that a portion of what they spend with us is redirected to our corporate giving initiative.”

Projectline, and fellow companies included on the 2009 Corporate Philanthropists list, were honored at a luncheon in Bellevue, WA on May 7th.

A division of American City Business Journals, Puget Sound Business Journal is the Northwest’s top business periodical. The weekly publication provides professionals with the latest breaking local, national, and global business news, as well as information on local business events, career opportunities, and more.
